The nanopayment economy

The nanopayment economy

Lens AI runs a small, real economy — three loops, all settled in USDC on Arc. Nanopayments make it possible: a fraction of a cent was never worth moving before; now it settles instantly.

The three loops

LoopProtocolWhat happens
Lens AI → buildersdirectA per-use payment to the verified builders whose data grounded an answer. The heart of it.
Readers → Lens AIx402A free daily tier; beyond it, pay-per-question. No subscription.
Agents → Lens AIx402Other agents pay per call to the Agent API — and that payment also funds builders.

Who gets paid

Only Arc-native builders at the Verified, Established, or Claimed tiers. Never:

  • infrastructure partners (wallets, RPCs, and the like),
  • the chain itself,
  • risk-flagged projects.

This is what keeps the economy ungameable — money flows toward proven, real work, not toward whoever games a directory.

The honest framing

We don’t over-promise the money. At a fraction of a cent, a payout is recognition, not revenue — a public, on-chain receipt that the ecosystem’s AI relied on a real team. Small money, big signal.

Guardrails

  • Caps per answer and per day bound total spend.
  • Per-caller de-duplication (24h) stops repeat-funding the same builder.
  • Accrue-to-claim holds earnings for builders who haven’t connected a wallet yet, so nothing is paid to an address that hasn’t proven it’s the real team.
